Best practices
- YouTube, enhanced for screen readers and styled to be responsive, is an accessible way to serve streamed video.
- For videos with audio, provide closed captions (with audio descriptions for non-spoken content) to convey the content to hearing impaired users. Provide either audio-described closed captions for screen reader users or a transcript of the video.
- For video with no audio, provide either a descriptive transcription of the visual content or an audio track describing the visual content.
- Provide controls to play, pause, and stop media.
- Include captioning for media.
- Don't start or play videos automatically.
- Don't auto-loop videos. Let the user control video replay.
