Icons & Illustrations

Marketing specificUpdated May 12, 2026

Our illustrations are a key visual and conceptual component of the Sage brand identity.

Illustration should be used purposely, carry specific meaning and to directly show context. To incorporate the core visual characteristics born from the Sage Flow and embody the human side of our brand. Used for high-impact moments, they articulate important themes that matter to our audience. They should be delightful and captivating.

Whatever you're creating, only use illustration where it has a tangible purpose and goal. It's imperative to always consider whether an illustration adds value.

For maximum impact, only use illustrations in key moments and situations:

  • To congratulate and celebrate with your user - for example, exceptional success states
  • To prevent confusion or frustration - for example, exceptional error states
  • When a feature is being bypassed, misused, or underused - for example, getting started or empty state experiences.
  • Consider whether or not the illustration will positively impact user behaviour.

Do not use illustrations to 'fill space', or because it looks good. And do not use generic or recycled illustrations intended for other contexts.

Any manually managed static icons and illustrations on the landing page and key pages should be updated with Sage rebranded icons and illustration.
